Senior Lecturer at Arden University, James has held academic positions at Northeastern University, New College of the Humanities and Goldsmiths, University of London. He is a former Royal Holloway Emerging Writer Fellow and Writer-in-residence at Phytology, Bethnal  Green. His work features in the Best New British and Irish Poets series.​
